The GCC Los Angeles Materials + Resources subcommittee researches sustainable material alternatives, methods of reducing waste, and implementing circular practices and systems within gallery and museum operations.

  • Recycling, Landfill Diversion & Reused Materials

    A peer-to-peer resource sharing tool for the arts, where users can sell, trade, lend, or donate unused items.
     
    A woman-owned environmental production resource for the creative industries that implements zero waste practices on productions and events by recirculating materials back into the community.
     
    An NPO that accepts a wide range of appliances, furniture, building materials and more.
     
    A recycling program for PPE and nitrile gloves.
      
    Recycled Movie Sets is the entertainment industry leader in set wall rentals and diversion for film and TV production, music videos, and art galleries, whose inventory comes productions who have chosen reuse over disposal. 
     
    Offers recycling programs for hard- to-recycle materials such as sheet plastic, batteries, light bulbs, and more.

     

    TerraCycle

    Provides recycling options  for hard-to-recycle materials like nitrile  gloves.

  • Packing Materials & Crates

    Atelier 4 Island of Misfit Crates

    Source crates in A4's crate  bank that can be retrofitted for re-use.

     

    EcoEnclose

    Offers a wide range of sustainable packing materials; has rigorous standards for vetting materials with their Sustainable Packaging Framework. 

    ROKBOX & Turtle

    Both of these companies offer reusable crates for rent or purchase; providers include Dietl, Gander & White and Masterpiece International. 

  • Printed Materials & Framing

    Indie Printing

    An eco-friendly boutique print shop that offers  same or next-day turnaround jobs and provides recycled and biodegradable products (based in Downtown LA)

     

    Paradise Framing

    This rental program uses preservation grade frames with inert interiors, UV filtering acrylic, and cotton rag matboards to frame works on paper at a cost savings of 30% or more compared  to custom framing.
