GCC Invited To Address World Leaders At The United Nations

26 May 2021

GCC was thrilled to be invited to address World Leaders at the United Nations Headquarters at the high-level event on Culture and Sustainable Development. We were proud to speak alongside artist Alfredo Jaar, artist-collective teamLab, Tate Modern Director Frances Morris, and ART 2030's Founder and Director Luise Faurschou.

The event highlighted the resilient, innovative and transformative power of art and culture,  and the importance of cross-sectoral partnerships to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

The theme of the event was “Building back better: towards a more resilient and impactful culture sector throughout COVID-19 and The Decade of Action”. It provided the opportunity for Member States to share experiences on crisis-response measures to support the creative economy during the pandemic, and identify implementation gaps and solutions. More crucially, in terms of going forward, it was a clarion call for strengthening strategic cross-sectoral partnerships to unlock the transformative potential of culture to help collective recovery  and propel us into and through this Decade of Action.
